Adventure India
In almost every part of India, there is a variety of trekking adventure options awaiting the trekker, some easy and enjoyable for the whole family, others should only be tackled by the serious mountain climber. In summer the focus is on the mountains in the northern states. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim all lie within the Himalayan mountain range. Altitudes range from 9,000 feet to 14,500 feet above sea level, and trekkers only need a reasonable degree of physical fitness. In Ladakh, the lowest altitude is 11,000 feet above sea level, and with the shortage of oxygen, acclimatization is compulsory.
Skilled and experienced "Sherpas" will take care of you, carrying luggage during your trek. The mountaineering and trekking season in India roughly runs between April and November, but some routes are only open for a couple of months, each year.
