About The Himalayas

Himachal Pradesh is the land of snow, lofty peaks, cascading streams, alpine meadows and lush fruit-laden valleys. Many parts of the Himachal state have conifer-clad mountains, chalet-like huts with overhanging balconies and serene blue valleys watered by snow-fed streams. Shimla the capital of Himachal Pradesh was once a Raj township.

Lying in the north of the vast and bountiful expanse of India and cradled in the awesome beauty and calm serenity of the stately Himalayas, Uttaranchal comprises of the Himalayan ranges which are most rich in myth and legend. An expression of divinity, austerity, meditation, penance and attainment, the hills of Uttaranchal are strewn with pilgrim towns, ancient shrines and forbidding snowbound peaks.

Sikkim, a tiny and once a remote independent Buddhist Kingdom ruled by the Chogyal Dynasty whose root goes back to the 13th century is nestled between Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet.  In 1975, under the 16th Chogyal, Sikkim became the 22nd state of the Indian Union.  

The harsh lines softened by the emerald green of the oasis villages, the crystal light of the cloudless blue skies, and the dramatic silhouettes of ancient Buddhist monasteries, is what makes Ladakh unique.  Ladakh consists of two districts Leh and Kargil. While Buddhism prevails in Leh, the Muslim Shia faith prevails over Kargil, Drass and Suru valley, where there are mosques and imposing Imambaras in the Islamic style surmounted with domes.
