The grassy meadows, lovely sunflowers, marigolds and rhododendrons have become a benchmark for Coonoor.The main attraction is the Sim's Park, a small well maintained botanical garden that has several varieties of plants not to be found in other hill stations.

Accessible by both train and road, the journey to Coonoor gives a panoramic view of tea estates and the river Moyar. Dolphin's Nose around 10 kilometres away from Coonoor is an excellent viewpoint. Lambs nose is another point on the way to Dolphins Nose that too exposes a vast panorama. From Dolphin's Nose one can have a magnificent view of St. Catherine Waterfalls which is about 250 feet in height.
