India is home to many wildlife parks, each with a unique character, and which provide numerous species with a safe haven. On this tour we have an opportunity of seeing the Asiatic Lion and Leopards in the Gir forest, the Great Indian One-horned Rhinoceros and the Asian Elephant at Kaziranga, and the Royal Bengal Tiger at Kanha and Pench. Add to this the Gaur the largest of all wild cattle in the world, the Asiatic Buffalo, Marsh Crocodiles, a variety of deer and monkeys and innumerable species of birds, insects and flora, and you have the ultimate wildlife adventure of the sub-continent. Gir is home to a tribe of descendants of African slaves called Sidis. Some tourists who visit the Sidi settlements when they come to Gir find it bizarre that they are with ethnic Africans and are searching for the lion, that most African of animals, in India. Kaziranga is situated in one of the "Biodiversity Hot-spots" of the world and is home to India's Big Four - the Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros, the Royal Bengal Tiger , the Asian Elephant, and the Asiatic Buffalo. Kanha and Pench house three predators - the Tiger, Leopard and the Indian Wild Dog.
