Spice Village is located in the Periyar wilderness, high in the western ghats of Kerala. For centuries, the area attracted voyagers and adventurers, mercenaries and empire builders, kings and merchant princes.

Spice Village is a world renowned resort that's consistently won acclaim for its service, its cuisine and the unique experiences it offers. The resort itself consists of 52 cottages, set in eight acres of respectfully tamed forest. Modelled after the jungle dwellings of the local tribal inhabitants, all the cottages, are built with split bamboo and elephant grass. This raw presence of nature can be felt through out the hotel - which more than statement of style was a necessity, considering the fragile ecosystem around. This earthiness is something you'll find everywhere, with most of the hosts you come across in this hotel will be the natives. The accommodations are in either Private garden cottages or Spice garden cottages.

Though cuisine served is multi-nation but emphasis is on regional cooking with excellent Kerala cuisine flavoured with fresh spices. Boat safaris in Lake Periyar, trekking, spice plantation visits and also cooking classes with spice are arranged at this beautiful resort.
