Meals are served in the dining area where wholesome Indian and Continental food prepared from home-grown vegetables, local produce and fish farmed from the lake is served. Surrounded by deep verandahs, this house looks out on to an array of bird life displaying on the water, and serves as a central meeting point to exchange stories around an open fire, or to relax quietly with a book from the library. As a small camp, they are entirely flexible to attend to all of the guests' needs and interests such as bird watching, photography, film making and research projects. Enthusiasm abounds in trying to incorporate a true safari experience while residing there. At Shergarh, guests are accompanied by a naturalist on game drives. Guests can also request slide shows for a concise and informative documentation of Kanha's wildlife. In addition to park activities, guests may participate in early morning bird walks, or cycle rides through the forest or visit the weekly local tribal markets.
